the place of creativity
There was once a coral factory in Germany – though coral was not to be found there. It was a workshop where objects and small pieces of furniture were artfully decorated with colourful glass beads. A beautiful thought.
The corals? An illusion – which comes to life in Leipzig.
At the Leipzig Coral Factory, coral is replicated. Imitations of materials have served for hundreds of years to artistically enhance interior design and decorative objects.
Symmetry and baroque splendor
Inspired by this tradition and the magnificent objects in the Kunstkammers of European royal courts, a desire grew, during my many years working as a restorer, not only to preserve the old but also to create something new.
Natural materials, especially those from the world of the sea, play a special role in this. They are combined with things found at flea markets, acquisitions from antique dealers, and striking, finely crafted small elements to create new objects. A dialogue between parts thus emerges, which is often emphasized by the symmetry of objects created in pairs.
Whether in modern or classic ambiences, these decorative creations are intended to be a feast for the eyes, evoking a touch of Renaissance and Baroque opulence to captivate their viewers.
